What are the Awards?

The Durham City Freemen Apprentice Awards recognise apprentices who demonstrate outstanding skills, excellence, knowledge, and commitment to their chosen trade within the City of Durham.

Why nominate?

• Celebrate your apprentices’ achievements and raise the profile of your business.
• Shine a spotlight on the quality of training and support your business provides.
• Connect with local organisations and the Freemen community at our awards evening.

Who can be nominated?

Nominees must be employed in a recognised apprenticeship (or equivalent apprenticeship training programme) and work, live, or receive training within the boundaries of the City of Durham.

Award Categories are: Craft and Creative, Construction and Engineering.

Recognition for WinnersWinners are honoured at an awards evening and receive a prestigious engraved glass trophy, a £50 voucher and signed certificate.

How to nominate

1. Identify an apprentice who exemplifies excellence and commitment.
2. Prepare a short nomination highlighting achievements, training progress, and impact and submit via the nomination form online at Durham city freemen’s website.

Key dates

• Nominations close: 19th March 2026
• Winners announced: 28th April 2026
• Awards evening: 5th June 2026 at Durham Town Hall, 6:30pm (RSVP)
