Obituary - John Atkinson

John Atkinson was known to all as a welcoming spirit at Freemen Meetings, Guild Days and the Annual Dinner. Although John had originally been admitted to the Company of Drapers, he agreed to become Warden of the Masons’ Company in 1999 in succession to Donald Young. He retired as Warden of the ‘Masons’ in 2013.

Heritage Open Days - Town Hall Tours 7 – 10 September 2017

The Town Hall tours were a great success with over 700 visitors attending over the four days. The Freemen’s contribution based on the ‘History of the Freemen and Guild Hall’, included a 10 minute talk for each of the 8 time-tabled tours.

Obituary - Robert Ainsley Elliott
21st August 2017
Bob was born in Durham just before the outbreak of the war, to a family who owned a well established building firm, with whom he served his apprenticeship. He became a meticulous carpenter.
